did u guys hear the community service message on radio on not to be mean during ramadhan? quite a cheeky message but gets its point across.

i like to think that i am not a mean person, ramadhan or otherwise. but today, my meanie-me decided to come out and play.

i think i must have laser-mouthed at least half a dozen ppl who sooo deserved it, honked (as loud as suzie can honk) at three cars on three stretches of road who seemed to go wacko near break fasting time, fingered one who tailgated me but later cannot even keep up the speed and not mere 7 hours ago, snarled at a one boy who run around the restaurant, rolling on the floor, screaming, spitting and god knows what else he was doing while his parents were busy chatting away.. i should have snarled at the parents but muka tebal dua2 ekor, buat tak tau je anak dia berkeliaran..

sigh...

i have to admit that i have not had a lot of patience these few days and thus, have not been on the best of temper as well. but taking the cue from VW Polo GTI ad, please lah ppl,

Do Not Provoke.

i'm yours

I’m Yours
Jason Moraz

Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but you're so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks and now I'm trying to get back
Before the cool done run out I'll be giving it my bestest
Nothing's going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some
I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I'm yours
Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
Listen to the music of the moment, people dance and sing
We are just one big family,
And It's our God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love loved
So I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short, This is our fate,
I'm yours
d-d-do do you, do you, d-d-do you, do you want to come
Scooch on over closer dear, and i will nibble your ear
I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
My breath fogged up the glass, And so I drew a new face and laughed
I guess what i be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do. Our name is our virtue
But I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait
I'm yours

Come on and open up your mind and see like me
(I won't hesitate)
Open up your plans and damn you’re free
(No more, no more)
Look into your heart and you’ll find that the sky is yours
(it cannot wait, I'm sure)

So please don’t, there’s no need
(There's no need to complicate)
There’s no need to complicate
(our time is short)
Coz Our time is short
(this is our fate)
This is, this is, this is our fate
I'm yours, I’m saying I'm yours

Selamat Hari Raya

i'm sad today.

i felt like i lost something. i did lose something.

sayang is so supportive.

we'll try again next time.

Thursday, September 25, 2008

ive just realised that its only 4 more days to raya. there's a whole lot of stuff that i have to do that's still not done yet.

tukar duit raya for my ever growing cousins and nieces and nephews (from elder cousins) is the one thing that i never get to do early every freaking year, but i still have to do it, by hook or by crook, no matter how much painful it is to depart with the greens. my uncles and aunties were quite generous to me when i was a child and i guess now its payback time, but couldnt they, like, do some family planning or something??? we do not have to beat tokmak's 13 children record, u know..

i still have to get baju raya for sayang (has to match my baju which i kinda forgot what shade of green it was), get some last minute kuih raya (yes, some more.. ), send my curtains to laundry (dunno if that will make the mark), send laundry, get some adabi nasi impit, rendang paste, santan, cordials (dunno if my mini open house will ever come to be), order some muffins from linz (i have to set a date for the mini open house first) and other stuffs that i wont even bother to put in here..

but the thing is, am leaving for melaka in like 2 days. haha. oh shait, i forgot to install aircon in my room!!! how long do you think it'll take for an aircon to be installed? one day? two? do u think the aircon installer or electrician or something will be avail like 2 days before raya? huh...
yea! the amazing race is on and 24 is BACK on later tonite!

i'm capping my hours till 1130pm tonite.
i went out of my mind and took out my weighing scale from under the bed this morning. i got on top of it and hey! what do u know! all smiles of course.

but i honestly dont know what happened. i was not watching my food, god knows i eat a lot this month :P and i have been skipping gym for like forever.. so what happened?

if i were to guess, i think it must have been the early dinner thing. on other days, we usually eat our dinner around 9-ish, almost pushing 10. but this month with breakfasting at 7-ish and nothing after, i have to say it somehow works.

what an ICKY job..

so, see how gross it is..

these pics will only be here for a while coz there's no way these icky thingies will stay in the tikus' blog grossing out the tikus and the tikus' guests!

the main sink waste-water pipe that's leaking.

the "sludge pool" underneath the pipe. its green and slimy, appropriately described as swamped by sayang..

the silver lining..

many, many, many, many years ago, i'd wondered if the saying "every cloud has a silver lining" is true. at that time, i thot my life has crashed down on me.

but many years later i'd learned that the saying is true but its only true if you refuse to let yourself stay in the dark.

bad things happen, whether we like it or not, whether we are the cause or someone else is the culprit, be it enemies or best friends forever. but we always have a choice on our next course of action. we can decide whether we go bad or whether we rise above it all.

i'd used to wonder if what i did was the right thing to do. but now, i figured if i did not do what i did then, i would not be the person i am now. i would be the same as them or maybe worse.

i am thankful.

my life is certainly much much more colorful now with past juicy enough to let on to my grandkids ;>

what a leaky job..

today is a bad day.

we got the plumber in today. since its a public holiday for selangor, sayang stayed in to supervise them while the tikus went for her appointment at gleneagles in the morning. thats another story.

so anyways, remember the leak in front of the second bathroom? since the 2nd bathroom is beside the kitchen, we honestly thot that the leak comes from either the bathroom or the kitchen sink. logical conclusion, yes? so as the tikus was waiting at the hospital lounge, sayang sms her the 1st update on the hack-my-house project.. they hacked the tiles infront of the bathroom, no pipes but a whole lot of water. they hacked the walls of the bathroom, the pipe is squeaky clean and DRY. they hacked the walls behind the kitchen and the sink, it's intacted and DRY. the plumber is perplexed. they will have to hack somemore coz the water has to come from somewhere!

the next update came through a phone call. sayang said they moved the kitchen cabinet... huh? kitchen cabinet can move one meh? apparently yes, it can. duh.. the plumber and his crew found the tiles under the cabinets wet. oh shit! sayang said, they suspected that when we moved the location of the sink and rerouted the sink pipe, the joints (or something) might be damaged. and since the plumber is the one who made the rerouting in the first place, sayang said he looked worried. yup, if its his fault, there's no way we paying for all this hack job and stuff!

then, the next phone call is the final and worst update. apparently, the pipe routing to the sink (or something) is intacted and DRY. but they found the source of the leak. after somemore punches on the tiles, they traced the leak to the yard.

and guess what's leaking??

the main pipe that carries waste-water from the sinks of 13 floors of units above us!!

EEEEEEEEEIIIIIIUUUUWWWWW!!!!

the story is, since under my unit is the lobby and no other unit, the main pipe has an elbow thingy that directs the waste-water to err somewhere (do i look like i want to know where??); otherwise, it'll just be a straight horizontal pipe going further down.. apparently, its been leaking for a while already coz there's a "pool" of sludge already forming. sayang said it looked like a mini swamp. i was soooo grossed out, i asked can we stay at a hotel today? of course, the answer is no lah kan..

sayang said the plumber and his crew cleaned up the "sludge pool" thoroughly and repaired the leaking elbow. so that's the job for today. they will still need to do up the walls and the tiles that were hacked. but im just happy they found the fracking culprit!

so leymah (i just found out that this girl lives in the same condo!!) if u need a plumber, use this one. anyone who's brave (or bird-brained) enough to clean the sludge pool with sponge and pail (and not just dumping water on it) deserves to be recommended. and i thot their hacking were done thotfully and they moved my cabinet without a single scratch.

but we'll see how much they'll cost... sigh...

shutterbug

i always have a fascination with photography but like learning how to play the piano (which i failed miserably) i cant seem to learn how to take pictures, nice ones that is. or rather learn how to use the camera to take nice pictures.

some odd times, my pics will turn up really nice (and that would definitely be because of the canggih automatic cameras we own), but most of the time, they will look like pics taken by a 7 year old. yes, i kid you not.

two months ago, i wanted to get a D-SLR camera (out of sheer fascination of the canggih gadget that is) and sayang went all eyebrow-raised-wide-eyed on me.

his words were, would u buy a manual car instead of automatic?

CK: of course not! i dont know how to use a stick

S: well, dslr is pretty much a manual car.

CK: oh... but i can learn...

S: yes, camera yang lama tu dah habis belajar dah cam ner nak guna?

Arrrrhhh!! sometimes, you just learn to stop arguing something when u know u're on the slippery slide of losing..

my friend linz is marvellous at taking pictures, or using a camera ;> considering the fact that she started to learn (how to shoot professionally, that is) only a couple of years ago, her pics now IMHO look very very pro, like she's been doing it for ages.

now, she's even managed to start a side thing on taking pictures of weddings and childrens/baby photos with Pitter Patter. and her pictures are gorgeous. i think she's also starting to learn how to shoot models. and judging at the pics already at her flickr site, i am sure she's on the road to success.

so linz, make sure u continue with what u're doing now coz i want my babies to be photographed by you! nak tunggu jadi model memang berjanggutlah kan ;>

3 days of the week.

the tikus is seriously exhausted.

thursday was.. err.. wait, what did i do on thursday? oh yes, Mdm told us that the project is still a go. dang! so thursday, my brain got the jolt it was waiting for. after two weeks of waiting, suddenly my brain felt fried. strangely though, i liked it. i hated being idle.

wow, who would have thot..

friday, i'm saddled with three packs to prepare, by next week, the earliest tuesday. emm.. still got time. and then, we went to see En.H at tawakal half of the morning. he was admitted due to irregular heart beat and after fainting at home. now, he is still there coz his scan showed many blockages and he's due for a surgery on Monday. thank god, we dont want another one of the late Dr. M's episode. God loves you En. H, HE gave you warnings..

and then, during lunch hr i went home to get something for the sentuhan kasih event that afternoon and to wait for sayang so that we can go to the event in one car.. and i noticed water pooling in front of the 2nd bathroom. i thot sayang must have spilled something in the morning coz he uses the 2nd bathroom often.. i squatted to wipe it out and heard a sound i thanked god happened at home. my kain kebaya seam was torn. not my day huh? sayang got home when i was changing clothes. i heard him asking, yang, y there's water outside the bathroom?

huh? i just wiped the water just now! oh shait! i ran out of the room to the 2nd bathroom and saw the same pool of water. oh no, yang, we have a leak. soooo definitely NOT my day. since we cant do anything then, we piled up kain buruk and kain lap one after another and just hope that it would do until we can get a plumber in.

and then, there was the sentuhan kasih event in the afternoon. sayang and i took 2 kids to chaperon and buka puasa with. usually, with these kinds of stuff, we just sponsor and try to avoid attending the event itself but i dont know what got into me this year that made me hauled sayang to attend as well.

all in all, the event was ok. it was exhausting like hell but it was fun. for first timer like me and sayang, getting to know the kids and getting the kids to break the ice with us took the longest time. the activities planned for them were not helping either, imagine 349 kids with 349 chaperons in one huge hall gallivanting with activities. we can barely have a decent conversation. so after getting them their toys, we decided to head for Aquaria. only then, they started to become active. yes, fish, especially GIANT fish has strange effects on children i have to say..

the event ended at 9pm and by then, i was wishing i'd worn pants, blardy slippers and have short hair. chasing around a 7 year old with a really fast F1 toy car on the 3rd floor foyer of the convention center with heels, baju kurung (oh, i sooo thanked god my kebaya ripped) and without a crocodile clip was a huge feat that i was glad its over. my feet hurt and my hair's a mess! i still cant believe i ran around the convention center and sat, yes, actually SAT, on the foyer catching toy cars. i must have lost my mind!!

at the end of the event, i saw James. she saw my condition and asked, so, u still want kids? HAHAHA! i could only laugh. and then we passed by Tuts and she asked, arent u glad u guys are going home to just the two of u? i looked at sayang, and he laughed. yes, sayang, ni baru 7 jam, imagine 24-7 with that.

imagine 24-7 with your own kids?

yes, i want.

today, the plumber came in to see the leak. we've concluded that one of the water supply pipes underneath the floor must have burst and leaked into the tiles coz there's no water spots on the wall. thank god. but he still need to hack the floor to find the pipe and fix it..

oookay, cant we get the condo's blueprint or something to see the pipe lines before u go hacking my entire floor? we could if the mgmt has copies. jeez, how could the mgmt not have copies? i guess we would find out on monday coz the office's closed and nothing could be done today and not tomorrow either coz no contruction work especially not hacking can be done during the weekends. sigh..

and then, the plumber went to see the water meter and rushed back to ask us to close all water taps coz the meter was moving too fast. i went into the bathroom to close the supply tap to the toilet bowl and guess what happen?

the tap broke.

and yes, the tikus was sprayed with high pressure water. UUURRRRGGHHH!!! sayang was laughing his head off when he saw me squatting by the toilet bowl, drenched, but still valiantly trying to hold the broken tap to not let water spray out like crazy. he said, sayang, it's ok, it's in the bathroom, just let it go. i frowned at the logic and then it hit me.

jeez! wat was i doing getting drenched? it's not like it's under the sink that can ruin my kitchen cabinets or something, its in the blardy bathroom where stuff are designed to get wet!!

the tikus' brain is definitely fried.

Sky Trex: sure or not???

my department has arranged for a group outing in November.

if all goes well, we are going to Bukit Cerakah aka Bukit Cahaya Alam (or something) to scale the SkyTrex. at first i had no idea what it was. i thot it was merely a hiking activity. but then i remembered some of my other colleagues went for the same thing and sounded pretty excited about it. what was so exciting about hiking?

so, like any other intelligent people who need information, i went to google Sky Trex.

GOOD GOD!!!

my jaw must have dropped to the floor. what were they thinking?? couldnt we just go bowling or smtg?

apparently, skytrex is something like jungle trekking, that is true... but it's done couple of meters high above the ground, from one tree to another! and its not just plain straight planks that connect the trees but series of obstacles. OBSTACLES, like those rope obstacles we had to endure during the orientation before we fly out overseas. yes, but those are done about 3-5 mtrs above ground. this is at a height from 3 - 17 meters above ground. SEVENTEEN METERS!! that's more than 55 feet above ground. that's almost half the height of the largest blue whale or a BOEING for that matter, if placed vertical on the ground.

u climb this to start.

sigh..

sure or nooott??

how many raya cookies...

..can someone eat?! well, apparently, at the rate i'm placing orders for these cookies, a whole lot! what have i done..

every bulan puasa, the tea ladies in our building, affectionately known as makcik kopetro, will make their rounds collecting orders for raya cookies. one of them even has a full colored AND laminated menu of cookies you can choose from, from normal tarts, to mango and strawberry tarts to three different versions of almond london to some colorful coconutty cookies thingy to kerepeks and serundings. i shud have taken pictures of those. one of them will leave it to you, as your heart desire, to just order any cookies you want and she will find it for you. i kid u not.

and every freaking year, i'd ended up placing orders after orders. last year, i forgot that ive ordered tarts from one makcik and ordered four more from another makcik. i ended up with eight bottles of tarts!! this year, i made sure i keep track of what i ordered but still, ive managed to have "cookies-relationship" with three of them already..

i wonder how the strawberry almond london taste like.. yummm...

A Woman Should Have..

my gurl friend, Z, send me this today; a poem by Maya Angelou. i read this in one of the books for freshman lit class; i smiled then and i smiled just now too. for all my girls out there..

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
enough money within her control
to move out and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
something perfect to wear
if the employer,
or date of her dreams
wants to see her in an hour...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..
a youth she's content to leave behind....
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a past juicy enough
that she's looking forward to retelling it in her old age....
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....
a set of screwdrivers,
a cordless drill,
and a black lace bra...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
one friend who always makes her laugh ...
and one who lets her cry...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....
a good piece of furniture
not previously owned by anyone else in her family....
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
eight matching plates,
wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored...
A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...
a feeling of control over her destiny...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to fall in love without losing herself.
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend
without ruining the friendship...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW....
when to try harder... and
WHEN TO WALK AWAY...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips,
or the nature of her parents.
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW....
that her childhood may not have been perfect...
but it's over...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she would and wouldn't do
for love or more...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
how to live alone...
even if she doesn't like it...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW.. .
whom she can trust,
whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't take it personally...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
where to go...
be it to her best friend's kitchen table...
or a charming inn in the woods...
when her soul needs soothing...
EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...
what she can and can't accomplish in a day...
a month... and a year...

finally, we are done shopping for our sponsored kids. my feet has been hurting for the past week looking for their stuff! but i have to say, i had fun shopping for these things..

one pair of baju raya, kasut raya, songkok, two pairs of baju sekolah, kasut sekolah, beg sekolah, stationaries and wrist watch for each of them. i just hope they fit. we were only given their measurements and i kinda forgotten how they look like, so i cant gauge how big they are. being 7 and 10, i supposed a little bit bigger is ok rather than smaller.

tonight we are break fasting at my in-laws place. MIL is cooking her special nasi ayam. makngah and pakngah is leaving for UK for two months and spending the raya there. this raya, we'll be spending in melaka (yea!) but i have to remember to install an A/C in my room before then. after being assaulted with the heat two weeks ago, i finally had it. i have no idea why melaka is very much hotter than KL. betul, whenever my parents are here, they said its cold.

other than that, there's a lot of other errands to run before raya. i just hope i remember them. my memory is a bit erratic these past err year.. hahaha!

Sunnies, J&Co DO-you-feel-like-going-NUTS and monster shoes...

i went to pavillion yday, with one intent and one only. to get these little baby.

i tried them on two weeks ago and decided not to get them, dat time. but out of nowhere, i wanted them yday. so while sayang was out picking out shoes for dodot, i sneaked out to pavillion. thank god they were still there.

on the way out i passed by J&Co. i heard about their donuts and ive tasted the yummilious kripy kreme. on usual days, i would be able to restrain myself from getting any kind of devil food that would upset my weighing scale :P but not yesterday. i was in the mood to indulge. half a dozen of those assorted little crazy yummy devils came home with me.. sigh.. and indeed, they were worth queueing half-an-hour for, even my sugar-intolerance hubby wanted more.

speaking of him, look what he did to dodot's shoes!!! ohmigod, mid-life-crisis is it?

i was reading the newspaper just now (yea! and thank god for the online version) and came across this news.

KUALA LUMPUR: A policeman and his wife invited a traditional healer to stay with them while he treated their ailments.

Instead, the 23-year-old man, who calls himself "ustaz", took advantage of his stay with the couple by raping their 15-year-old daughter twice.Mohd Faizal Zakaria was arrested and claimed trial to two counts of raping the girl in a flat in Jalan Semarak here at 2pm on June 26 and at 2.30pm on July 4 last year. He pleaded guilty yesterday.Sessions Court judge Fathiyah Idris sentenced Faizal, of Kg Kelong, Tumpat, Kelantan, to seven years' jail and three strokes of the rotan for each charge. The sentences are to run concurrently.

According to facts, the girl rejected Faizal's advances on the first occasion and ran into her brother's room, where Faizal overpowered and raped her.The second time, Faizal raped her in her room after she had taken a bath. She told her parents of the incident on the same day and a police report was lodged. Faizal was arrested the next day in their home.
Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Muttaqin Rabbani Abdullah submitted that the girl was in the safest possible place, her home, when she was raped.
"The home is supposed to be the safest place. In this case, he broke the trust given to him and raped the girl. "He also committed these acts while staying there on the pretext of treating her parents," he said.Mohd Faizal was represented by counsel Zambri Ibrahim.

being raped is not a choice. it may scar the girl for life and he gets SEVEN years only?? how soon will he go on raping others after that?

hot stuff

i dare u to say it to my face. u know who u are. but just to annoy u much much more, i'm in the market for one of these two hotties. ;P

the sony ericsson Xperia X1 or the HTC Touch Pro.
ever since i've gotten the 838Pro last year, ive been a sucker for these PDA phones with their touchscreen and their windows mobile (WM) and their qwertys. yes, i looove the qwerty board. makes my emails easier to write.. but one thing i dont like about them is their way too much adult-like appearance (yup, i tried to be an adult last year, but hey, the girl still wants to play). so when i heard SE is coming out with a WM phone and it has a slider qwerty, i salivated. i want. not even the sexy iphones tempted me as much as i wanted the X1. SE announced that its X1 is to come out in Q1 this year but up till now it's still not in the market. apparently there's some kinks with the phone that need some ironing out. emm.. will it be another P990i? cross my fingers and really hope not..

and then, HTC announced that they are coming out with the Touch Pro. it's basically the Diamond with a qwerty.. the features and specs are nearly the same with SE; they even look eerily similar but HTC being HTC, i know i can trust the reliability of their phones. they've been supplying their technologies to other phone mfrs long before coming out with their own phone brand. plus, they are quite cute too. i had the Touch Dual but didnt quite like it coz it's lacking the proper qwerty; it ended up with sayang and passed down to my SIL.

so now, i'm confused. if cars are sayang's achilles heel, then phones are mine. actually, cannot compare like dat coz cars vs phones? hiyo, waaaay big difference!
ok, they are showing the mens' double final and am soo not interested. i think i can pop in one of these while waiting for the other single semi to start. now, the thing is, which one dat wont take too much thinking at this early hour?

i have two more dvds that i bought today plus two more that sayang bought few weeks ago that we have yet to watch. we thot of having a long movie marathon tonight but the US Open is live right now for the semis.

i cannot not watch that, especially when its Rafa's 1st US Open and Federer's running for more. i missed watching the battle of the titans and will not miss this. now, if only they stop yabbering and get on with it already!

the x files 2

ok, i have to admit, i was an avid follower of this series while it was still running. at that time, mulder was still quite "yummy". oh god, were (or are?) my choices of movies/series based on how cute the actors were (or are)? hahah!

so, anyways, i watched the first XF movie and i remembered being pleased with it (it was quite sometime ago wasnt it?). i was quite surprise when they came out with XF2. i thot the whole thing was over and buried with under the ice or snow or whichever it was. and it was definitely curiosity that got me buying the dvd and forcing sayang to sit and watch with me. i wanted to see what other alien stories could they come up with.

in the spirit of not wanting to spoil this for u peeps, the movie was quite...interesting(?), yes, interesting with a definite question mark. but by the end of the movie, i did not feel satistisfied. the first half was ok, good in fact, even sayang was interested. but the last half left me wanting. no, not for more of XF sequels, but for the rest of the movie. i guess u have to judge it for yourself.

also not recommended to watch in the cinema, unless u are a freak of XF. for normal ppl, get the dvd, the good copy is out already.

Babylon A.D.

hiya, y do i keep being suckered into watching this kind of movie? oh yes, two words: vin diesel.. i kept watching his movies eventhough they have stupidos storyline, over and over again. its like being drugged with potent male testosterone. quite sickening huh? ;P

so anyways, babylon a.d. is just another one of those i'm-the-macho-ex-killer/assassin-finally-doing-something-good movies. oh, yes, our esteemed Datuk M.Y is in it also. do not ask me how she was; u will not like the answer. by the end of the movie, u'd kinda feel somewhat irritated and wished u'd gone and watch the darknight, again, and still feel it's worth it.

if u still want to watch this movie, please dont bother going to the cinema. it will be a waste of 25 bucks, or whatever amount ur cinema of choice charges. go get the dvd or better yet borrow one from ur fren.

this weekend is the MATTA fair.

i have not been to the fun-filled-packed-with-ppl-till-i-cant-breathe event ever since sayang has gotten his ass back in malaysia. i think i want to go and check it out. yes, we are planning for another break. i wanted to try club med. apparently they are having a good deal for "villages" around asia (yup, bad season now to go holiday so have to have deals).. have any of u peeps been to one? any club med?

under the bad weather

i have not been feeling well since saturday when we spent one nite in melaka. it was hot and dry and both of us felt like hell. our body ached, our head pounding and our throats on fire; we thot it was just a bout of heat..

but until today both of us are still not feeling well and my neck started to feel swollen, so this cant be just because of the heat.. sayang, as usual for sayang, kept denying he's sick and went to work where i hope he goes infecting other people if not just to prove point, my point.

i, like my usual self, admitted defeat, especially after a whole day out in the sun yesterday with all the car stuff topped with being under the rain at night, and went to the doctor today. the doc's verdict: i got a nasty throat and tonsil infection and at the rate of my immune system, i could have gotten a bad fever if i waited any longer.

oh well, i just thank god its not dengue...

correction, plis.

i have to make one correction to the CRV post. Honda has 7 seater SUVs; they are just not available in our country unless u bring them in on your own...

the new kid on the block (I)

so yes, finally, we have a new kid on the block, or rather in the common parking area in our condo ;P

after a loooong deliberation with sayang, finally, last week, i've decided that i want to postpone my bribe. basically, i dont want my bribe car now, especially since i, myself, am iffy with the main reason of the bribe. oh, i havent told u what the bribe is for huh? hehe, na-ah, not going to tell either now.. just that im not convinced that the thing will fall through, enuf said.. but since we still want to change car, i've decided that sayang shud get what he wants, as a reward for all his good work.. haha funny isn it? i give him permission to spend his own money? sounds a bit strange to me oso but hey, i'm a pretty cool wife. ok, ok, stop will all that puking act, people!

so, today, the deal is finally completed. both of us took leave to settle the whole thing, pick up the car, affectionately named dodot for reasons yet to be determined, tinted the car, sent woppet to his new owner (bye baby, miss u already!!!) and wooppe-di-doo-daa dodot is now safely sleeping downstairs.

yes, we brought home the God of War... the deal went so fast, sayang is still reeling in shock that he actually gotten a car for himself and not for me. tak pe, tak pe, like all smart women, i am just biding my time.. ;> anyways, for sayang, this is his first time getting a new car, yes, a spanking brand new, no-one-has-ever-own-it-before brand new car. no, unreg cars dont count. so needless to say he was as excited as 7 year old kid getting a toy he has always wanted. sigh..

note: please bear with me with all the pics thingy, i have no idea how to get them properly placed and aligned..

PUNKED-TURED: how to survive one.. or three..

im sure most of u have gotten flat tyres in your driving lives.. i have gotten three of them in the span of 6 years. quite lucky i have to say. sayang has gotten 3 in the span of 6 months, i kid u not.

my FIRST puncture was way years ago with daisy. the thing is, i did not even realise i have a flat tyre until i reach home and saw, well, the flat tyre! at that time, i was still living at bukit permai, and if u guys know of that place, its on a blardy bukit with quite a drive to get to it. so there i was driving back from work when i noticed my steering wheel was heavy and kept "twitching" like nobody's business. having never experience a flat tyre before, i obviously did not recognize the signs of one. and because i have a tad tendency to blast my stereo to the max, i failed to hear the "flapping" rubber sound that a flat tyre would make. so, oblivious to it all, i drove all the way up the blardy hill all the while cursing my steering wheel and trying to figure out if my bank account has enough balance to fork out money to repair whatever i thot was wrong with it. jeez...

only when i got to the car park at my condo, i saw one of my front tyre was punctured and flat flat. i never had a flat tyre before (yes, ive stated this like a million times already huh?), i did not pay attention at driving school on how to change a flat tyre, so enough to say that i literally didnt know what to do. i called sayang, but sayang was all 8000+miles away so he couldnt help me. i wanted to call AAM but i didnt have the number and it was night already. so i called my brother, Aan. he drove all the way from Rawang to change my flat tyre for me, at night. have i posted how much i love my brother? yes, i do, a lot. later that nite, i received a long-winded nag from sayang of how dangerous it was to drive with a flat tyre especially on the windy road to bukit permai.. sigh... yes, but i didnt know i had one!

my SECOND flat tyre happened also few years ago with also daisy.. i was on my way to the office from KLIA when i noticed a couple of cars flashing at me. honestly, i thot nothing of it. and then, this one taxi not only flashed at me but drove to my side and kept pointing to the back of my car. oh my god, do i have a serial killer at my back seat? urban legend kept flashing in my head! and then the pakcik taxi shouted "tayar flat!"

oh shaaait... not again.. how? i did not hear any "flapping" sound and my steering wheel was definitely not twitching.. but irregardless, i knew i had to stop, but i was in the middle of a hway and i didnt know where.. there were a couple of huge lorries and trucks and news of trucks running into stalled cars at side of the road suddenly crept to my head.. but i had no choice. i will not be nagged again this time for driving with flats! i put on my emergency light and slowly inched my way to the side. i tried to pick the "safest" point i can think of but i was on MRR2 and i had little choice; u know how MRR2 is, a lot of bends and uphill and downhill. i dont want to catch a truck on a surprise immediately after a bend or after an uphill with my parked-car beside the road.

i got out of the car and onto the curb and saw my right-side rear tyre was punctured. ah, maybe that's why i didnt feel anything with my steering wheel.. i started calling everyone i know to tell them where i was and to ask what AAM number was. yes, though i had received rudimentary lessons on how to change a tyre from my brother, i was not willing to risk my ass squating at the side of the road changing, or trying to change :> tyres. i called AAM, the number was busy. uurrgghh!!! then, i was seriously considering to call a tow truck but i thot that was wee bit over the top.. i was pacing back and forth the curb trying to think what to do; my head was pounding and the jetlag from a 12 hr flight was not helping and suddenly this one motorcyclist stopped over. the pakcik saw my flat tyre and stopped to offer his help. i swore i could have hugged that pakcik for the goodness of his heart. later i got nagged by sayang for giving the pakcik 50 bucks for changing my tyres. sigh... should i have just hugged him then?

my THIRD flat happened two nights before merdeka with suzie. it was a friday night of the long weekend. we had plans to join Nis for a last toot-to-do before puasa. we almost cried off because sayang had just spent 2 hours in the jam getting home from the R center and he was exhausted. but then we changed our minds and decided to just popped in to say hi. not even 5 minutes of drive, sayang heard a thumping sound on his side (i was driving). he said "u might have a flat".

huh? he deduced that from a "thumping" sound? and by the way, what thumping sound? i didnt hear anything! and no, the stereo was not loud k. and i definitely did not feel anything wrong. but he was adamant. he literally stuck his head out of the window to see the tyres. yes, my hero that one. could have been a headless one at that! suffice to say, he ordered me to stop over. thank god this time i was in ampang. i went into a petrokiosk and sayang went out to check while i twiddle my thumb in the car. one minute later he came back in and said i have a nail stuck in my left-side rear tyre. JEEEZ!!!

he said as long as the nail is in, my tyre should be ok FOR NOW, but it will still let out air slowly and i will have a flat, sooner or later. it was almost midnight and i was not interested to have a flat tyre after the toot-to-do while being tipsy. so we decided to can the plan and head back home. at the carpark i got out of the car and squatted down to look for this nail that ruinned my night. there it was, spanking huge ass nail with about 2cm prodding out that caused the thumping sound that only my super-duper-hearing hero could hear. sigh.. i asked him what to do. he said, nothing tonight, no need to change tyre..

huh? well, apparently, if there's a nail stuck on ur tyre, it will keep the air in for a fashion; leaking it out at a slow rate (depending on stuff, yes, i didnt bother to listen to what stuff..), meaning: u will not have an immediate flat but a slow gradual one. the good news is, it can be fixed or patched or whichever verb that is that would mean i would not have to spend 250 bucks for a new tyre! and so the next morning, my hero went to the tyre shop to patch my tyre and it cost him only 8 bucks or something!

so, what's the lessons on how to survive flat tyres?

1. first, u have to know that u have a flat tyre; pay attention to: steering wheel feels strange, flapping or apparently thumping sound, sometimes burning rubber smell etc

2. when more than 2 cars flash at you, and u are not driving at 60km/hr on the fast lane, then, something is wrong with ur car. dont perasan there's a serial killer at ur backseat.

3. do not drive with a flat tyre(s); well, unless u have those run flat tyres..

4. if u notice a nail(s) on ur tyre(s), do not pull it out. drive slowly to a tyre shop to have it repaired.

5. stop at a designated emergency area or a safe place by the roadside. no, i honestly do not know where are the safe places by the roadside. make sure u put ur safety triangle at a distance from ur car to warn other vehicles; put on ur emergency lights.

6. always make sure ur err flat tyre changing kits(?) are equipped and ur replacement tyre is not out of air either. yes, i oso dont know that the replacement tyre can run out of air..

7. change ur flat tyre:

  • have a loving brother/sibling who can change ur tyre for you, willingly
  • have a husband / boyfriend / life partner who will change ur tyre for you, irregardless
  • find someone who can change ur tyre for you for less than 50 bucks
  • call AAM where u will definitely will be charged more than 50 bucks
  • if all else fail, learn how to change ur tyres on ur own; i heard rumors that its actually not that difficult..

happy berpuasa peeps!
